Shanghai filmfest nominates Iran’s ‘Cause of Death: Unknown’

Iran's ‘Cause of Death: Unknown’ has scored 4 nominations at the Shanghai Int'l Film Festival in China.

Iranian feature film ‘Cause of Death: Unknown’ has scored 4 nominations at the 2023 Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) in China.

The film that is on screen at the Asian New Talent program of the Chinese event’s 25th run was shortlisted to receive the Best Film award, which will go to the film’s producer Majid Barzegar.

Ali Zarnegar, the film’s director is picked as a candidate for the Best Filmmaker award at the same category of the event.

Besides, the SIFF has nominated Ali Mohammad Radmanesh for the Best Actor in a Leading Role award and Davoud Malek Hosseini for the Best Cinematography award.

Banipal Shoumoun, Alireza Sanifar, Neda Jebraeili, Ali Mohammad Radmanesh, Zakieh Behbahani, Reza Amouzad, Soheil Bavi and Saeed Rezaeikia form the cast list of the flick.

Founded in 1993, the SIFF focuses on awards, markets, forums and film exhibitions so as to build an international platform, and promote the development of the Chinese film industry.

This year’s edition of the fest is slated for June 9-18.
